5 Ways How to Stay Motivated Daily

Despite what you see on social media, no one starts off successful in life, career, or even in business. You will experience joy, ups and downs, and even a little despair as you move through different stages in your life. The key to surviving the roller coaster of life is staying motivated even when times are rough. If you are not intentionally engaging in daily activities to maintain a positive attitude, you could be on a collision course to burnout in your career and even your family life. 

 

Burn out can happen at any time no matter your profession. The worst thing about burnout is it sort of sneaks up on you before you realize it. That’s why it’s so important to get yourself refocused and back on track right at the onset of your burnout. So before we get into how to prevent burnout, let’s talk about some of the causes and early warning signs you are losing steam. 

 

People burn out for a number of reasons. Maybe you are losing hope that you will ever be successful, get that promotion, find the love of your life or some other dream you may have. Perhaps you are working, but not making the type of you'd like at this stage in your life. You may even feel so exhausted from your 9-to-5, kids, husband, and all of the other home life responsibilities that you can’t find the time and energy to start that business you dream about. Knowing the reason for your burnout helps you put safeguards in place to ensure you regain motivation to maintain a healthy and positive mindset.   

 

When you are heading toward burnout, you may find yourself experiencing a lack of enthusiasm for doing everyday things. You may even feel grumpy more often than usual. Then before you know it, it’s been days, weeks, or even months since you've been your usual self. It may seem to come on suddenly but these easy-to-miss signs start to slowly snowball into something bigger.

 

No one is immune to this dilemma but there are ways you can prevent it from happening.

  1. Reconnect with your passion and dreams. By the time we reach adulthood, most of us have loss touch with our dreams and passions. Take the time to allow yourself to dream about what you'd like to accomplish in life without worrying about money, family constraints, time off from work, or any other limitations. Then put your dreams on paper and commit to taking action on accomplishing something from your list this year. 
  2. Plan your days. Use the time blocking or the Pomodoro method to focus on your projects during each day. At the end of each day, create a list for the following day. Write in a journal about any negative events that happened and how you can handle these situations better in the future. Knowing exactly what you have to do the following day allows you to be more productive at work, at home, and beyond.
  3. Take care of yourself. Self-care is probably the most neglected activity, yet it is so important. The wrong mood or mindset can lead to elevated stress levels and poor health habits. A simple thing like going to bed an hour earlier can help you wake up feeling refreshed. You should also wind down your brain by unplugging from electronics two hours before bed. Let’s not forget the importance of daily exercise and water intake to help you flush out your system and keep your body healthy and flexible. 

Burnout doesn’t have to be inevitable. Get proactive by following these steps and learn how to relax and enjoy the special moments in life without sacrificing personal growth, health, and sanity.
